Abstract

In the two-level system of higher education the result of higher school graduates training is to develop a number of common cultural and professional competencies. Competence- based approach requires not only the use of new methods of education, but also new methods of study results assessment of any discipline. This article proposes an interactive method of assessment of knowledge, skills and competencies of a student based on the use of case study technology. Classification, objectives and content of control cases as well as the planned results of their application based on the experience of students training in programming during two years are provided. The proposed method is applicable to the stages of the current, intermediate and final control when studying any discipline based on the situational analysis of the subject area. Application of case study technology to the assessment of formed competencies gives the opportunity to carry out both training and knowledge assessment using the same method.
