Abstract

A large part of non-formal and informal education, ensuring the continuity and integrity of the education, is now realized online. These processes are very different from traditional educational activities and have been poorly understood. The purposes of the article are: to analyze the possibilities of information and  educational Internet environment in the lifelong education; to systematize the characteristics of the online students’ activities; to identify the forms of information and educational activities that provide lifelong learning. The study is based on post-nonclassical methodology. Literature review, methods of comparative analysis and orienting generalizations were used. It is shown that the Internet becomes an online learning environment for lifelong learning when its capabilities “meet” the individual’s needs and goals, which are realized in his or her informational and educational activities. Based on the analysis of the concepts of informational behavior, information and communication activities, educational and cognitive online activity, self-regulated learning and self-directed learning, the features and forms of online information and educational activities are highlighted. The multidimensional and self-managing nature of such activities and its personal, pedagogical and Internet regulation are shown for the first time. The results can be used as a basis for further research of the problem of lifelong leaning in Internet environment.
