Abstract

The article provides an overview of current researches of cognitive deficit in affective disorders. The current empirical evidence of cognitive impairment in bipolar and depressive disorders are analyzed, relying on data of psychometric and neuroimaging investigations. Comparative analysis of literature data allows authors to formulate a generalized theoretical model of cognitive deficit – disturbances of cognitive-affective control, based on neuroanatomical and functional disorders of the cortico-subcortical relationships involving frontal and limbic structures.
