Abstract

The success of academic activity is an important condition for student's personality self-realization at both the university level and in future professional activity. In accordance with the model of developing students’ universal competences in the ESL classes designed at the previous stage of the research, the aim was to identify how reflexivity and responsibility levels affect the success of students’ academic activities. The authors used the method of scientific literature review to clarify the basic concepts. To study the problem of interrelation of reflexivity and responsibility competences and their influence on the success of learning a number of approaches were applied (systemic, personality-oriented, competence-based, personalized); psychological and pedagogical diagnostic tools were selected (observation, stand-ardized testing, questionnaires); the criteria of students’ successful academic activity were scientifically substantiated. It was experimentally proved that the improvement of the indicators of reflexivity and responsibility had a positive impact on the success of students' academic activity, which? In its turn, proved the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
