Abstract

The ability to make decisions, make choices, and interact with other people in conditions of uncertainty are key skills of the 21st century. Students gain experience of choice in educational activities and can use it in the future in other areas. To develop students' readiness to choose, it is necessary to know the features of the internal activity of choice. However, recent research shows that there is lack of certainty in the theory of choice and assessment tools. The study aims to identify the features of the personally significant choice of the topic of final qualifying work by bachelor students of psychological and pedagogical directions. To achieve the goal, the method of analyzing choice justification (D.A. Leontiev) and the “Subjective Quality of Choice” technique (D.A. Leontiev, E.Yu. Mandrikova, A.H. Pham, etc.) were used. The qualitative, quantitative indicators of choice activity and the assessment of the decisions made allow the author to conclude that the bachelor students demonstrated confidence and responsibility in choosing the topic of their final qualifying work. The method of choice justification and the “Subjective quality of choice” technique allowed to effectively train the skill of choice. The results obtained can be used by teachers to organize effective interaction with students and support them in making choices in educational activities.
