Flux-Cored Welding Pipes Made from High-Strength Steels

Abstract

The article presents the assessing of the level of the impact toughness of metal weld made by multiarc submerged arc welding. Submerged arc welding using cored wire is performed with plates as an example. The article presents the results of mechanical tests, chemical analysis and microstructural study of the welded joints. The obtained results permitted to draw a conclusion about the possibility of using cored wire for welding pipes made of high-strength steels leading to the increase of impact toughness of welds due to their alloying.
