Transformations in Siderite Ore Under Reducing Heating
Abstract
The chemical and mineral composition of Bakal siderite ore was found. The solid- phase reduction of siderite ore by gaseous phase in contact with coal at 1000–1100 ºС was carried out. The macro- and microstructure of the reducing products are shown. Two types of structures formed: dense composite assemblies of metallic iron with ferrous magnesium oxide ceramics, and porous formations of metallic iron and magnesium oxide globules. The consolidation effect of solid reduced iron particles was confirmed.Issue
