DEVELOPMENT OF LEARNER’S AUTONOMY IN A LANGUAGE EDUCATION CONTEXT

Abstract

The paper deals with the development of learner autonomy as a subject person integrative quality
in a process of language education. The authors analyze the definitions of autonomy and the ways of its development, represented by researchers in LT; they consider the changing roles of the teacher in modern conditions, in particular, its role in the organization of language educational environment. The paper proposes the concept of autonomy development by means of pedagogical interaction, by use of interactive forms of educational process organization and by a system of specific training tasks focused on the development of personal qualities characterizing the autonomy of the individual in foreign language education.
