COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF STYLISTIC DEVICES TO IMPLEMENT THE OPPOSITION IN A PAROEMIA

Abstract

This paper is devoted to stylistic aspects of the realization of the opposition. The material for the
analysis of the opposition as a complex linguistic and philosophical notion is French, English and Russian
paroemia. The timeliness of this study is defined by insufficient knowledge of some language aspects
of the realization of the opposition in comparative aspect. Among stylistic means of expression of
the opposition it is necessary to single out the antithesis as the most explicit form of clearly highlighted
opposition. Other stylistic devices represented relatively equally in the three languages include disjuncthesis
and general preference formulae. Stylistic devices of disidentification, amphithesis and diathesis
are unique to the Russian language, because they cannot exist in the French and English languages,
where syntax tends to a fixed and progressive word order.
