REPRESENTATION OF EPOYMOUS SPORT TERMS IN A SPECIALIZED DICTIONARY

Abstract

The article covers the principles of lexicographic registration of eponymous words and phrases
used in sport discourse. The paper describes the basic elements of micro- and macrostructure of the dictionary
of sports eponyms with reference to their structural, semantic, functional and etymological features.
One-word and multiword eponyms are the material of the research, and the existing monolingual
and bilingual dictionaries, glossaries and texts on sports representing different styles and genres,
eponymous dictionaries of other fields are the source base of the research. The results of the research
contribute to the development of the terminographic studies and may be used in the practice of special
and eponymous dictionaries compiling, as well as in the academic practice of teaching special courses
of terminological studies, sociolinguistics, translation of texts for special purposes.
