REPRESENTATION OF THE TIME CATEGORY IN TATAR ANTHROPONУMY

Abstract

This article attempts at conceptualizing the category of time in Tatar anthroponymic worldview. The
article doesn’t reveal only universal features of the category of time but also points out specific national aspects of its reflection in Tatar anthroponymic system. The analysis of the anthroponymic material shows that the idea of time gives the most accurate and strictest chronological fixation. The dichotomy of cyclic and linear time is manifested in personal names. Personal names that reflect cyclic time are results of understanding and justifying certain correlations between changes, laws of nature and humanactivities. Linear time marking certain historical facts in personal names reflects and records the life experience of the person. The present study of the time category in anthroponymic system reveals peculiarities of naming the Turkic people, their worldview.
