Abstract

The article is dedicated to one type of contextual deixis – personal deixis, and its
usage by the author of autobiographical genre of belles-lettres. Obviously, the first person
narration serves as self-presentation and self-interpretation of the narrator (addresser)
and provides the realization of coordinate indication of I-the author-the narrator-the character
in the reader’s perception. Actualizing the meaning of personal deixis units is carried
out directly in the context. Besides, the deictic markers fulfill representative functions,
as they completely reveal their meaning only being included in coreference relations with
I-the author-the narrator-the character. Indicating the reference they take the form of
anaphoric and deictic references depending on the conditions of their usage.
