FUNCTIONS AND TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE EVENT SITUATION
Abstract
The article describes a possible approach to classifying event situations based on the participationin this event of an agent – a person who causes a certain action. The event situation is compared with
and opposed to the person-and-event situation, the latter presupposes the existence of an active linguistic
personality. As well as the event situation, the person-and-event situation has such characteristic features
as space-time and causative-consecutive relations, and the described event has an impact on a bigger
or smaller group of people. The type of the situation may change in the course of time, for example
when the emphasis is transferred from the event to the identity of the person causing this event to happen.
With the transformation of the situation and the change of its type in the course of time language
means of nomination of the same extra-linguistic situation change as well.
