ON THE PROVISION OF FOOD SAFETY IN THE FOOD LAW OF EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
Abstract
The developing turnover of food products, in particular between the states, gives customers
a wide choice of different goods. The distribution of food products on a scale of
international relations makes the issue of providing food safety highly important. The
realities of modern life shows that even in the developed countries there are cases of outbreaks,
caused by unsafe food. The experts note that today a national legislation can not
cope alone with the problems of ensuring food safety. Therefore, it’s needed to unite the
efforts of different countries, develop common principles in the fight against unsafe food
products. Many specialists mention food safety excellence in the European Union and the
need to borrow its experience regarding the regulation of relations which occur in the
sphere of food products turnover. Some characteristics of the European food law are analyzed
in the article. In particular, it describes the main sources of food law, as well as
main duties of economic entities. A comparative analysis of the food law provisions and
technical regulation of food safety and quality is conducted.
