Abstract

The paper analyzes production of artillery guns in the Urals in 1930 - 1940. The paper notes that
making of guns during this period was a continuation and development of glorious traditions of the
Ural gunners, which lasted since the XVIII century. The paper also shows positive attention of the
Soviet political and military leadership to the artillery. This attention led to development of the artillery
production — an essential component of the military industry not only in the region, but also in
the entire country. The paper concludes that basis, which was made in the pre-war period, contributed
to a significant development (both qualitatively and quantitatively) of the artillery production during
the war. This development ensured final victory over the enemy
