Abstract

The singing cycle of a prominent singer Fedor Krestyanin has been found
among the records of state singing clerks and it is dated from 1600. The study of the
cycle lists of XII—XVII cc. enabled to retrace the history of its development. The
pecularities of the famous master’s creation are specified appliying a tectological
formula-structural method. These pecularities became apparent in the description
by simple pneumas of earlier ciphered complicated formula inscriptions in Putevoy
style. The theoretical research made it possible to retrace methods and a sequence
of practical classes held by state singing clerks to study the cycle of troparions
dated from October 14, 1600. The methods of translating the cycle from the old
neumatic notation to a modern one are explained. The image-notional connections
of a text and a chant are revealed.
