Abstract

The paper shows the activity of higher education system in the Soviet Union during World War II. The paper gives characteristic of the process of evacuation of universities to the east of Soviet Russia as well as characteristic of the activities of the Soviet government to preserve their material resources, student contingent and teaching staff. Author of the paper analyzes changes in the teaching process and educational work during the war. It is concluded that Soviet system of higher education has stood the test of war and made significant contribution to achievement of the Great Victory
