Abstract

Preliminary results of studies of previously unknown type of sites in the Southern Urals – rock
sanctuary, are published in the article. The sanctuary was discovered on the north-western shore of
Travakul lake (south-western part of Irtyash lake) during the survey on the site, where a hoard of
bronze details of horse harness was found. Bowl of human skull and flint flake were found in exploring
pit between two boulders on the edge of rocky ridge. The Travakul bowl is the fourth find of such
kind in the Urals. Issue about site dating meanwhile remains open. Explored sanctuary allows us to
suggest discoveries of this type of sites in other places of the Eastern Ural foothills.
