Abstract

The paper analyzes the main trends of development of the Chelyabinsk Polytechnic
Institute in the years of «perestroika». Disclosed are the main problems faced
by the administration of the university and the faculty HPI in the study period.
Use of structural and functional and comparative historical research methods that
reveal the dynamics of the most significant transformations in the development
of the university in the years of «perestroika». The thesis that the CPI was able to
overcome the many crises that emerged in the Soviet system of higher education
in the study period. The main factors that will ensure the development of the university,
even in conditions of extreme social, economic and political crisis
