PECULIARITIES OF DESIGNING REINFORCED THERMOSETTING PLASTIC FOR A FRICTION UNIT BEARING
Abstract
Usage of polymer composite materials in heavy-duty friction bearings helps
solve many technical and economical problems. Scarce copper alloys are saved, cost
of a friction unit is reduced, at the same time its wear resistance is increased. Thus
operation life of machines is increased and spares consumption is reduced. Extensive
bench and operation testing of friction bearings in various friction units confirmed
correctness and practicability of using polymer composite materials instead
of other antifriction materials. Long-term experience enabled the authors to develop
an algorithm for designing a reinforced thermosetting plastic for a friction bearing.
