PEST-ANALYSIS OF AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRY OF THE REGION

Abstract

The subject of research in this article is strategic analysis of the external environment of agricultural
organizations. The research was carried out by the example of agriculture in the Altai Krai, however,
tools and algorithm of the analysis can be used in studying the external environment of any agricultural
organization. The goal of this paper is to find ways to improve strategic planning and corporate
management, as well as justify the external factors that pose the greatest threat to its financial condition.
The authors conducted a comprehensive analysis of social, political, technological and economic
conditions of the external market environment of agricultural organizations of the Altai Krai. As a result,
it was concluded that low profitability of agricultural industry in the Altai Krai is affected both by
the general economic crisis and by the tendencies of regional development. At the existing extent of
state support of Altai producers, the activity of agricultural organizations is assessed as inefficient. An
expert assessment, conducted among heads of agricultural organizations of the Altai Krai, made it possible
to determine the most significant PEST factors for the analyzed sector: grant financing, legislative
base, taxation level, key rate, availability of credits and deterioration of material and technical resources.
