Abstract

The article deals with transport and logistics infrastructure of the Republic of Tajikistan. The structure of a transport system, including road, railway, air transport, and highways is described. The strategic position in the transport system is given to road transport.  Motor vehicles play a key role in the production infrastructure of the Republic, which explains a develop highway networks and facilities, providing year-round communication of the Republic’s center with other regions. Geographical features of the Republic allow for transit of goods and services between China, Central Asia, South Asian and Middle Eastern countries. The international transit goods traffic will facilitate the development of the Republic’s economy.  The article presents basic indicators of the transport infrastructure development, in accordance with which the bulk of cargo operations accounts for road and railway transport. The state program for development of the transport system has been approved for further development of transport infrastructure. The program involves: building of a logistics network and establishment of international logistics centers; construction of border terminals; granting of preferential loans for purchasing vehicles that meet international standards; attraction of additional investment; construction of railway networks; performance of works on reconstruction, renovation and construction of international and national roads and bridges.
