Abstract

The problem of absence of transport services of necessary quality in new urban districts is relevant for many big cities. Considering the lack of transport system planning or the lack of implementation of such planning, development of passenger transportation in new housing areas is often of catch-up nature, which means the demand is more varied and quantitatively exceeds the supply. At that, many directions, including those of social importance for passengers (hospitals, schools, kindergartens, etc.), might remain uncovered. Along with the problem absence of such transport infrastructure as turn-around areas, halting points, and means for traffic organization, the network of public transport routes is also insufficiently ramified; at that passengers are forced to make additional transfers. In order to determine the most relevant and significant directions for organizing the movement of public transport routes, it is advisable to conduct a survey of the expected passenger traffic. For new urban districts which are mostly populated by young and Internet-active part of population, such survey method as an Internet questionnaire appears to possess the necessary degree of reliability. In order to collect data for the research, an Internet survey was organized and conducted, with links to the questionnaires placed on the key information sites of the city. The article presents the results of the researching passenger traffic in the city of Chelyabinsk conducted via an Internet survey, determines and formulates the problem of a significant transfer rate among the “Parkoviy 2” urban district residents. An analysis of this problem is carried out, proposals for solving it and improving the quality of transport services in this urban district are formulated, taking into account necessities of passengers and minimization of the load on the road network.
