Abstract

Under the influence of urbanization processes, there is integration of cities; there is outflow of population from rural areas on the basis of declining birth rate, increasing life expectancy and aging of the world’s population. The Russian Federation is no exception. This article is devoted to studying the issues of transformation of spatial structure of regional economy in the Russian Federation. Bulky regional structure with a weak level of interaction under the influence of crisis phenomena in economy is facing the threat of even greater separation of structural elements of the socio-economic system. In this regard, a particularly pressing issue is the formation of a new model of state development, adapted to the new realities. It is exactly the agglomeration of territory that should be considered as a process of areas’ delimitation, blurring of their administrative boundaries under the influence of migration movements of population in search of more profitable and comfortable ways of living.
