Abstract

The widespread introduction of information and communication technologies (ICT) is an immanent factor of labor productivity enhancement not only in the ICT sector, but also in related and traditional industries, contributing to the emergence of new activities. The authors analyzed the factors that are important for the growth of labor productivity, both in the ICT sector, and from the position of the impact of functional results of the sector on the growth of labor productivity in the Russian economy. Methodological platform of the analysis is considered to be the concept of duality of effects created by the ICT sector: the presence of direct effects (localized directly in the sector) and the effects induced on labor productivity of the economy as a whole. The role of the sector as a generator of development of other industries related and unrelated with a process link to the ICT sector is shown, which allows to determine the most important factors of economic development, to position the Russian Federation in the global process of technological changes.
