Abstract

Nowadays, we can already see that Russian industry’s steady transition into postindustrial economy causes development of hypercompetition in a number of sectors. The study focuses on the main characteristics of hypercompetition as the consequence of aggravation of traditional characteristics of an industrial enterprise’s environment. The authors also provide the results of evaluation of the degree of small enterprises’ resistance to hypercompetition in 5 main industries of the processing sector. It is also shown that small firms manufacturing electrical equipment have a higher probability of success in protecting their competitive advantages. Pulp and paper production, as well as printing and publishing industries have the lowest chances of success. To protect enterprises from hypercompetition, the authors suggest a model of an enterprise’s dynamic capability development with a resource-based approach. From this point of view, resources of an enterprise are classified according to the degree of their influence on the competitive abilities of the latter. An approach to the evaluation of coordinates of the point of making a proactive management decision is proposed.
