SYNTHESIS OF METHYL 3,4-DIHYDROXY-6-OXO-2,4-ALKADIENOATES
Abstract
Methyl 3,4-dihydroxy-6-oxo-2,4-alkadienoates are produced by the condensation reaction of methyl acetate, dimethyl oxalate and alkyl methyl ketones. The structure peculiarities of the synthesized compounds are discussed on the basis of IR and NMR1H spectroscopy data. It has been discovered that these compounds in the solid state and in nonpolar solvents exist as dienol bis-OH-chelate tautomers.Published
