INTERACTION BETWEEN MICROORGANISMS AND STONE BUILDING MATERIALS

Abstract

Microorganisms may interact with building materials in almost every aquatic or moist environment. As a result of these interactions one can observe material corrosion, aesthetic alterations in the appearance of buildings and degradation of indoor air quality. The review of the Russian and foreign literature on interaction between microorganisms and stone building materials is carried out. The main lines of research in this field are highlighted.
